Baby Loss Peer Support Circle

Sometimes there are no words to express a profound loss. Creative arts, crafts and community can facilitate expression of pain beyond words, and bring solace to grieving hearts.

Whether you have experienced an early or late miscarriage, a stillbirth, neonatal death or a termination for medical reasons, this group is an opportunity to connect with other mothers who have lost babies in a safe and supportive space.

This 9-session baby loss circle is co-facilitated by Kate Smith, an integrative arts psychotherapist, trauma specialist and storyteller, and Polly Rodgers, a writer and researcher. Both Kate and Polly have personal experience of baby loss.

The programme will run for 9 Sunday afternoon sessions 2.30-4.30pm between October 2026 and February 2027 (see dates below). We ask that you commit to attend all sessions, if possible, for the safety and trust of the group.

During this time, we will move through a creative process that can help you to safely explore and express the feelings you might have around losing your baby. Together we will create objects and explore processes that may memorialise your baby, represent part of your story, or embody what the loss has meant to you. We hope that over the 9 meetings you will form connections with others who have experienced losses of their own.

Each session will follow a similar pattern: We will begin with a welcome and ‘check-in’. This will be followed by an hour or so of creative activity (which will vary from week to week). After the creative session there will be an opportunity to share and reflect on what you have been working on.

Please note that this is a therapeutically-informed arts and peer support space rather than group therapy.

Dates: 11th and 25th October, 8th and 22nd November, 13th December 2026, 10th and 24th January, 7th and 28th February 2027
